| Job Description: |
Library West seeks an undergraduate intern for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 to support a research project on college student news consumption habits and library related interventions. The intern will collaborate closely with the Internship Directors and research team to help conduct focus groups and test follow-up interventions that produce actionable insights that support library outreach, programming, and media literacy instruction.
The intern will:
(1) update a literature review on Gen Z news consumption habits, news avoidance and information overload
(2) assist in the design and facilitation of student focus groups, including recruitment, data collection, and transcription.
(3) assist in the testing of identified library related interventions using qualitative methods
(4) synthesize findings into a professional research report with recommendations for future Library West instruction and outreach efforts.
(5) present results to Library West staff.

| Expected Salary: |
$15 /hr
|
| Required Qualifications: |
- Enrolled at UF, good academic standing.
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Interest in original research (IRB training provided).

| Preferred: |
- Familiarity with library databases and literature searching
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods such as focus groups.
- Enthusiasm for student engagement and media literacy.
- Majoring in journalism, political science or a related field
|
