The HR Generalist I provides transactional and operational HR support to the Graduate Programs Center of Expertise (COE) within the College of Medicine Human Resources Office. The position serves as a point of contact for College HR Department Partners, the Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Office of Graduate Education (OGE), and supports onboarding, employment transactions, compliance activities, employment and training verifications, and other HR operations at the college level.
The HR Generalist I works closely with the Manager of the Graduate Programs COE and other COM-HR teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of HR activities while providing responsive and professional customer service. The position ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and checklists, assists department partners with resolving and/or appropriately escalating complex issues.

HR Transactions, Onboarding & Compliance:
- Provide onboarding and employment transaction support for housestaff, graduate assistants, and pre-doctoral fellows.
- Review onboarding documentation and follow up with departments regarding missing or incomplete information.
- Process and/or approve routine employment actions, including hires, job changes, additional pay, and terminations, within established authority.
- Coordinate and process GatorStart, I-9, RISC, FINS, tuition waiver, and other onboarding requirements.
- Support licensure and training-related tracking and documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and support compliance reviews and audits.
- Assist with payroll distribution and funding-related requests.
- Coordinate with and provide support to the COM-HR Transaction Team during high-volume processing periods.
- Lead triage of new cases in Salesforce Case Management System (CRM).
- Assist with leave-related matters for housestaff and ensure appropriate reporting and escalation of issues as appropriate.
HR Operations & Administrative Support:
- Process employment and training verifications, including PSLF, FRAME, deferment, and related requests.
- Support the transition and maintenance of verification processes within Salesforce.
- Review and process extra-duty/moonlighting requests in accordance with established requirements.
- Review courtesy appointment requests for external rotators and ensure required documentation and system records are complete.
- Maintain accurate records across applicable HR and program systems, including New Innovations,
- PeopleSoft, Workday, and Salesforce.
- Provide general administrative support to the Graduate Programs COE and assist with special projects and
- process improvement activities.
Support COM-HR Transactions and Operations:
- Crosstrain with and provide support to the COM-HR Transaction Team on ePAF processing, approvals, and other routine HR activities.
- Assist COM-HR leadership and teams with operational projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Provide backup support for other HR and administrative functions as needed to maintain continuity of service.
