Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor – Division of Addiction Medicine

The Department of Psychiatry at UF College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida is seeking an Assistant, Associate Full Professor in the Division of Addiction Medicine. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), Clinical Track (non-tenure accruing) faculty position. Appointment rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) will be commensurate with experience, academic accomplishments, and national recognition, consistent with University of Florida College of Medicine guidelines.

This role provides essential inpatient and outpatient clinical care within the Florida Recovery Center while supporting the Division of Addiction Medicine’s academic mission. The faculty member will contribute to medical student and graduate education through teaching, supervision, and mentorship, with opportunities to engage in quality improvement, clinical scholarship, and collaborative research. Depending on experience and interest, the position may also offer leadership opportunities, including program development, faculty mentorship, and participation in divisional strategic initiatives.

The UF Health Florida Recovery Center is Florida’s premiere addiction treatment program. Our multidisciplinary treatments are supported by advanced research from stellar facilities, such as the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida, where we are uncovering the mechanisms of addiction and are developing new treatments. Our program combines the established principles of recovery and evidence-based addiction treatments with the knowledge and capabilities of a leading academic medical center. Calling upon the skills of board-certified addiction medicine specialists, as well as psychiatrists and licensed behavioral health counselors, treatment encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of recovery followed by the well-established and proven 12-step method.

The successful applicant for this position will report to the Chief of the Division of Addiction Medicine.

$240,000-285,000; Commensurate with experience

Applicants must have:

•   M.D. or D.O.
•   Eligible for Florida medical licensure
•   Board certified/board eligible in:
  • Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine (ABAM/ASAM), OR
  • Another specialty and Addiction Medicine (ABAM/ASAM)

•   Completed Addiction Medicine fellowship
•   Experience in:
  • Academic medical centers
  • Treatment of safety-sensitive professionals
  • Multidisciplinary team-based care
•   Demonstrated teaching excellence or educational leadership
•   Experience with program development or clinical leadership

The Department of Psychiatry

 The UF Department of Psychiatry is a leader in innovative, evidence-based treatment programs for a variety of mental health and substance use disorders. Treatment teams within UF Health Psychiatry specialize in dual diagnosis. They are experienced in managing treatment plans for multiple co-occurring disorders. Clinical faculty, fellows and residents provide subspecialty care using transcranial magnetic stimulation, parent-child interaction therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and specific treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder and addiction.
