The Health Promotion Specialist, Sorority and Fraternity Life, will be a member of the professional team for Sorority and Fraternity Life, GatorWell Health Promotion Services, and the Division of Student Life. The Health Promotion Specialist, Sorority and Fraternity Life will be responsible for developing, implementing, facilitating, and providing educational programming, initiatives, and workshops for the sorority and fraternity life community. Duties shall include advising the Greek Wellness Ambassadors, council wellness ambassador programs, student employees, presenting at various events and programs, and engaging with sorority and fraternity students to promote optimal wellbeing and healthy decision making. The sorority and fraternity community at the University of Florida consists of over 60 social sororities & fraternities with more than 8,500 student members, including 40 chapters with housing facilities in which approximately 1,700 students reside. The sorority and fraternity life community is comprised of 4 governing councils, the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Panhellenic Council (PC).
- Create, develop, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services to best support the sorority and fraternity community; This will include creating presentations and workshops, presenting, and engaging with individual sorority and fraternity chapters as well as providing educational opportunities for the 4 governing councils at various events and trainings. This involves tailoring programming to fit the experiences and needs of each of the councils.
- Hire, supervise and manage various student staff. Advise peer education groups focused on wellness.
- Provide support for large-scale sorority and fraternity programming and events, as well as operational needs of GatorWell and SFL. This may include using a vehicle to transport program materials.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health promotion in the Greek community. Topics for education and health promotion may include hazing prevention, alcohol and other drug risk reduction, stress management, time management, self-confidence, etc.
- Work with the Sorority and Fraternity Life team to provide hazing prevention education and initiatives for the sorority and fraternity community.
- Provide individual student services for the sorority and fraternity life community, as aligned with GatorWell, such as Wellness Coaching and HIV Testing.
- Contributes to the division and university through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives.
- Contribute, collect, and maintain data tracking and report development related to health promotion strategies, trends, programs, education, and services in the sorority and fraternity community both at the University of Florida and across the country; and support grant funding and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:
American College Health Association’s Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education (ACHA SPHPHE) and the Healthy Campus Framework.
NASPA and ACPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Educators and NASPA/AFA Recommendations for Excellence for FSL and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) Core Competencies
Ability to work under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple demands and to coordinate efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team
Energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining a positive and heathy perspective and relationships
Collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, and trust towards colleagues.
Supervisory and organizational skills
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and assessment tools such as Qualtrics
Willingness to be an active member of at least one relevant professional organization
Experience with:
Master's degree in public health, health promotion, health policy or health education; degrees in other health related fields may be considered
A higher education environment.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH)
Certified Wellness Coach (or eligible and intent to become certified).
Conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions
Membership in an (IFC, MGC, NPHC, or Panhellenic) fraternity or sorority
Designing, implementing, and evaluating of health promotion programs, especially those in the sorority and fraternity community.
