UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional-level Instructional Designer III to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.

UF Information Technology (UFIT) enables teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and across the region with state-of-the-art enterprise IT systems, including SEC and SUS universities, and the opportunity to teach using HiPerGator.

The Instructional Designer III oversees the development and implementation of solutions for academic programs, departments, or similar units and provides oversight and leadership of a learning or training program including establishment of program goals and future direction.

This position is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of classroom and technology-based training programs. Working with members of the university community, this position assesses the training needs of the target audience, serves as a liaison between subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical experts to identify learning delivery needs and develop appropriate programs to address the needs of the target audience. This position also leads large projects by managing cross functional teams to develop new programs and courses.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

• Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of instructional design projects by applying established learning theories, pedagogical best practices, and innovative educational technologies across multiple delivery modalities.
• Serve as the primary liaison between faculty, stakeholders, and development teams by managing project communications, developing project documentation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality learning solutions.
• Supervise project workflows, timelines, and quality standards while training, mentoring, and guiding staff and student employees in instructional design methodologies, learning standards, and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrate strong initiative and self-direction by independently managing multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing competing demands, and consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Research, evaluate, and implement emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design, online learning, usability, and accessibility while representing the organization on strategic initiatives, committees, and high-impact projects.

$75,000-$85,000; commensurate based on education and experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

• Master’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.
• Provides project leadership for large projects by establishing goals and monitoring progress to ensure successful completion. Provides advice and guidance for comprehensive learning and training programs including course/project scope, time line, materials, and course evaluation.
• Develops and designs learning aids including, but not limited to, instructional guides and web simulations to assist in the transfer of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Research and learn new technologies quickly to develop new approaches and processes to support teaching and learning.

This is not a remote work position and is located in Gainesville, FL.
