This time-limited position is part of a team that supports faculty and staff in the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) through the CALS Faculty Instructional Resources and Support Team (FIRST). FIRST supports faculty and staff in the development and delivery of online academic and Extension (non-credit) courses and programs.
In coordination with other team members, the Education/Training Specialist III (Extension Online Operations Lead) assists in planning, implementing, and administering operational workflows of online courses and teaching support programs for UF/IFAS Extension Online Learning.
Job functions include:
- Utilizing knowledge of best practices in online course design and teaching, coordinates day-to-day operations of online non-credit course development and delivery in UF/IFAS Extension Online Learning, including course approval, course launch, quality review and content review workflows. Manages and assigns tasks from intake requests. Coordinates and manages course development and support workflows to ensure deadlines are met for course launches and other milestones.
- Manages captioning and accessibility workflows and tasks. Manages technical assistance and support to learners and instructors. Supervises OPS and other technical support staff and submits support tickets when escalation is needed. Tracks LMS and registration product releases and coordinates team communication on new features and gaps.
- Coordinates data collection and sharing. Tracks revenue and creates reports, working with UF/IFAS Extension Business and Artificial Intelligence team to access and refine dashboards. Manages and tracks course refunds and communication with credit card office.
- Coordinates hiring, onboarding, and management of student workers and OPS assistants, in collaboration with other team members. Supervises student OPS and OPS assistants assigned to video captioning, accessibility, technical support, and other operational tasks, coordinating their work with other team members.
- In collaboration with other team members, consults with faculty to assess needs. Collaborates with instructional designers, faculty, or subject matter experts on program development and design. Monitors practices and processes to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness. Develops and documents new workflows as new processes are needed.
- Maintains knowledge of current practices and trends in the training/learning/development field. Participates in and provides support to on-campus teaching events and activities hosted by the CALS Dean’s Office or that are otherwise relevant to FIRST activities, and to relevant UF/IFAS Extension events and trainings. Coordinates with other UF/IFAS and UF units, departments and programs as needed.

| Preferred: |
- Education or experience in teaching or training and developing instructional materials, especially for adult learners.
- Project and/or program management experience. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities and effectively prioritize and allocate time to meet deadlines and schedules.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and to engage with instructors and other clients in a professional, accessible, and courteous manner.
- Experience or familiarity with online Learning Management Systems, especially Canvas, and with educational technology and collaboration tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Playposit, Cidilabs DesignPlus for Canvas, Adobe Suite, Mediasite, Zoom, HTML, Microsoft 365/Teams).
- Experience providing technical support to instructors or learners.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team to meet both individual and team goals.
- Ability to seek solutions proactively. Flexibility and ability to adapt in a changing environment
