The University of Florida Digital Worlds Institute in the College of the Arts is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach DIG3124 Principles of Interaction and Usability for Spring 2027. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of interaction design fundamentals and usability principles, with hands-on expertise in prototyping platforms such as Figma and code editors like Visual Studio. They must be skilled in user research and data collection, able to transform findings into wireframes, flowcharts, and functional prototypes, and experienced in facilitating collaborative group projects and user testing. A background in HCI or related disciplines, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered learning will be highly valued.
The course requires the instructor of record to provide in-person lectures, grading, office hours, and student feedback. This position requires an estimated 10 hours/week to support this course. This time-limited appointment is from January 1, 2027, to May 15, 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to join our dynamic team and support our students' education and success.
Responsibilities:
· Lecture and facilitate course topics and materials for DIG3124, Principles of Interaction and Usability.
· Create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.
· Provide supplemental learning content as needed to enhance student understanding. (e.g., feedback, additional reinforcement of lecture, etc.)
· Develop and assess student assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback on student work.
· Monitor and respond to student inquiries and discussions on the course platform.
· Adhere to the course schedule, stay updated with industry trends and advancements in user experience and design techniques to enhance course content and instruction.
· Promote academic integrity and enforce course policies and guidelines.
· Utilize appropriate learning platforms, communication tools, and digital resources to deliver course content effectively.
· Maintain an organized course schedule and be available to students for support and clarification through communication channels.
· Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Digital Worlds Institute (DW) is an interdisciplinary institute that offers academic and research programs at the intersection of the arts, communications, and technology. Founded in 2001 as a partnership between the College of the Arts and the College of Engineering, DW has grown its initiatives across additional units including the Colleges of Education, Journalism & Communications, and the Health Sciences. DW offers both a graduate and an undergraduate program in Digital Arts & Sciences.
