This position is in the Citrus and other subtropical fruit breeding laboratory at the Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred, FL. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician I to support plant breeding and molecular biology research and experiments. The technician will assist in the preparation, execution, and documentation of molecular assays and genetic analyses. Key responsibilities include performing routine molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction, and cloning. We also expect the individual to assist with routine greenhouse operations, such as watering, budding, and other necessary tasks. This position is for a one-year term and will be renewed annually, contingent upon available funds.

The Veterinary Care Technician II (VCT2) under the general supervision of the Veterinary Technician Manager (VTM) or Veterinary Technician Assistant Manager (VTAM) provide advanced veterinary technical support to ensure that Animal Care Services (ACS) goals related to research, husbandry and laboratory animal health and well-being are met. The VCT2 under the guidance and direction of the Clinical Veterinarians provides expertise in triage, assessment, treatment, sample collection, records documentation and follow up care. The VCT2 provides veterinary support and care to a wide range of species of animals including (but not limited to) mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, frogs and zebra fish. The VCT2 maintains health monitoring records and schedules, receives, assesses and houses USDA species, and communicates with research partners and their lab members to provide and schedule care for the animals as needed. The VCT2 assists in developing and delivering teaching and training classes, wet labs and special training sessions for ACS staff, research partners and their staff and other customers. This position is open to current UF employees only.
