| This is a full-time (40 hours per week) laboratory technician position working at the UF/IFAS Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (https://fmel.ifas.ufl.edu). The workload will be divided equally between Dr. Eva Buckner’s and Dr. Yoosook Lee’s labs (i.e., 20 hours per week per lab). Training/supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and lab technicians is also an integral part of this role. Position is initially available for 6 months, with possibility of extension depending on performance during the provisional period.
In Dr. Buckner’s lab, activities will include assisting with laboratory management, maintaining mosquito colonies in the insectary, performing mosquito insecticide resistance testing, supervising junior laboratory personnel, and assisting with purchases. Additionally, the selected candidate will perform all assigned tasks for any other research or Extension projects taking place in the Buckner lab, which may include semi-field or field experiments.
In Dr. Lee’s lab, activities will include laboratory management, supervising junior laboratory personnel, conducting sample inventory management, DNA extraction, genomic DNA library preparation for whole genome sequencing, mosquito collection, mosquito pinning, and assisting with purchases needed for research and Extension activities.
This position may require availability for weekend and evening work upon occasion. The incumbent will need to satisfy UF and IACUC requirements for inclusion in research projects |
