The EM lab is a very productive part of our overall capabilities at CREC. The Biological Scientist II manages the lab and assists CREC staff to obtain appropriate microscopy images for their work. The lab contains transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Confocal microscopes and the necessary support equipment for their use. Equipment maintenance and repair as well as budget management are expected. The job should be done with a minimum of supervision and operate as a very productive service lab for the Center. A key to the successful working of the EM lab is the teamwork between the manager and the many users to successfully plan, undertake, and complete projects to the point of publication. At a minimum this person should supply written materials and methods sections for papers and generally be involved in all phases of writing some papers for publication.
Good knowledge and use of all techniques to prepare, observe and record sample information is expected. This person should train technicians, faculty, postdocs and students on electron and confocal microscopy techniques. |
