Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety, the Senior Investigator supervises and leads the investigations team providing strategic vision and guidance, ensures compliance with applicable investigatory best practices, leads completion of investigatory and other assigned projects, and develops and executes departmental training objectives related to
field interviews and report writing.
Duties
- Supervision: Supervise investigators, manage caseload, and provide guidance on investigation plans to ensure timely case closure and proper documentation. Provide training, coaching, and mentorship. Collaborate closely with the Office of Community Standards and the Title IX Office to facilitate Departmental efforts, including by way of ensuring Public Safety reports are shared in a timely manner.
- Response: Under the direction of the University's TAT and the Director of Public Safety, lead critical investigations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: documenting investigative findings in the DPS/TAT protocol, collaborating with IMC on social media inquiries, and drafting summary findings and documenting cases in ARMs reports. Attend weekly meetings with TAT leadership, and provide verbal reports on pending cases. Oversee the Department's LexisNexis application, including managing users and providing training to personnel.
- Training: Develop and training sessions on field interviews and report writing to ensure department personnel are meeting expectations in this key area.
- Response: Manage the University email intercept list, including submitting requests to ISO, reviewing and tracking intercepted emails, and raising intercepted emails to Threat Assessment Team leadership as appropriate.
- Supervision: Providing strategic guidance for the University's Department of Public Safety, including by way of liaising with other University departments and external stakeholders; approve timecards and scheduling for the investigations team.
- Emergency Response: Accept responsibility as a critical support personnel, and report for duty, if safe to do so, in the event of a critical incident impacting the operations of Public Safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Supervisory experience
- Security experience
- Proficiency with Google Drive

- Previous Law Enforcement Experience
- Dignitary protection ARMs

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $84,000 - $86,700 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
