The Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the success of the department through strategic engagements on behalf of the department. Engagements include on-campus events and programming, campus outreach to different populations and departments, website upkeep, social media presence, and maintenance of the overall representation of HRL to current and prospective students and families. Accordingly, they help to develop a positive relationship with university and external constituents on behalf of the department.

As a staff member in Student Affairs who works closely with students, this person serves as a Christian role model to students.

Duties

  • Responsible for HRL events: planning, purchasing, setting up, cleaning up, etc. Expected to recruit staff to assist in events as needed. This includes participation in Office of Admissions, Orientation events, and similar events.
  • Responsible for the general first impression of the office environment, website look, housing portal, social media accounts, marketing efforts including physical materials, official Residence Life posters, parent program newsletters, and marketing events. Works closely with the Communications Coordinator to ensure all outreach and communication to students are consistent.
  • Provides support to the front desk in response to students and parents inquiring about billings, meal plans, room assignments, room changes, covering front desk phone calls, etc. Helps settle disputes and complaints, de-escalate conflict situations.
  • Supervises student worker(s) specifically with social media, marketing and programming. Additionally, is responsible for the development of student worker(s) skills and abilities.
  • Conducts outreach and engagement with campus partners to support different populations including prospective students, new students, parents, graduate students, etc.
  • Ensures timeliness of items edited on the website including housing terms and conditions. Keeps a departmental calendar that projects dates and deadlines a minimum of two years out.
  • Maintains records and confidential information for the housing office.
  • Advises Director of Housing Operations on themes surrounding student and parent feedback. Makes recommendations for policy change or exceptions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong organizational skills and 1-3 years of previous administrative leadership and programming experience in an office setting.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex problems and multi-task. Execute programs and events through to completion.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Google Suite. Experience maintaining website language. Graphic design experience.

Preferred:

  • 2-3 years of university housing office experience.
  • Marketing and graphic design experience.
  • General knowledge of university housing processes Public speaking, prior student worker supervision.
  • Experience with StarRez, 25Live, Modern Campus CMS, Marq.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $24.53 - $27.25 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
