The University's Executive Director of Administration is a key member of the Executive Vice President's leadership team, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Administration. In this role, the Executive Director oversees short and long-term projects and assignments across various University areas, aiming to maximize overall institutional performance, effectiveness, and efficiency. This involves coordinating with team members, tracking progress, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to address them while ensuring timely and successful project completion. Additionally, the Executive Director works on institutional initiatives, coordinates presentations, and assists with the development of policies, analyses, benchmarks, reorganizations, and reports as needed. They also stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to provide the most relevant and innovative solutions.

The Executive Director of Administration must possess highly developed analytic and tactical thinking skills, along with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in various formats, particularly in writing. Collaboration and cooperation are paramount in this role, requiring the ability to develop relationships and seamlessly integrate into established teams without creating divisions. Professionalism with grace is imperative. In addition to embodying these qualities, the Executive Director plays a key role in establishing a model workplace culture that aligns with Pepperdine's mission, vision, and strategic plan. This includes pursuing excellence in all aspects of work, fostering unity, and honoring each individual team member.

Duties

  • Identify and lead projects and assignments across various operational areas, including general business, financial, and operational aspects. Plan, execute and close projects within specified timeframes while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that project goals are met and that all deliverables are of high quality.
  • Lead and support institutional initiatives and divisional goals; assist with the development of policies, analyses, and reports. 
  • Maintain, prioritize, and administer a high level task list; develop, review and edit presentations; prepare documents; write and edit reports and communications; benchmark and research data. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned. 
  • Uphold the University mission through all work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Five years of professional or educational experience in related fields and/or an advanced degree. Supervisory experience. Passionate commitment to Pepperdine University and its mission, vision, values, and goals. Collaborative approach to work with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with a variety of personalities and work styles. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Experience with project and data management and strategic planning. Familiarity with Pepperdine University. Legal training or familiarity with legal matters. Experience or background in faith-based higher education.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $125,000 - $143,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
