The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting marketing activities relevant to Seaver College and the College of Health Science, with a focus on (but not limited to) undergraduate students. This role will contribute to the University's mission and strategic plan by promoting Pepperdine's Christian values and enhancing the institution’s image among prospective students and stakeholders. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating, planning, and executing traditional, new, and emerging media strategies using relevant channels. The Specialist will collaborate with key stakeholders to help develop and contribute to marketing and communications efforts that grow, strengthen, and enhance Pepperdine University’s brand.

Duties

  • Website Content Management: Maintain and update Seaver College and the College of Health Science web pages with accurate and compelling content. Utilize SEO best practices to increase traffic and engagement.
  • Digital Marketing: Assist in the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, organic social media, and paid advertising. Monitor and report on the performance of initiatives.
  • Print and Mailing Projects: Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to produce and distribute print materials, including brochures, flyers, and postcards, to prospective students.
  • Event Support: Assist in planning and executing in-person and virtual events, such as information sessions and admissions welcome events. Ensure events align with the University's mission and strategic goals.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, vendors, and partner organizations. Assist in working with partner vendors to support recruitment efforts.
  • Content Creation: Assist with writing, editing, and publishing engaging content across various platforms, including web pages, social media, email newsletters, and print materials. Ensure content aligns with the University's brand and mission.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data from various sources to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University's mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, or related discipline. 1-3 years of experience in marketing, with a portfolio showcasing content creation. Excellent written, verbal and oral communication skills. Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to and ability to uphold and promote the Christian mission and values of Pepperdine University. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite of programs, social media platforms.

Preferred: Understanding of web development and SEO best practices. Digital marketing skills and experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant software. Familiarity with content management systems and Slate enrollment management system.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $26.82 - $29.80 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
