The Manager, Prospect Development and Analytics serves as a partner to the front-line fundraisers in Advancement to reach the University's fundraising goals. This individual serves a unique purpose in the donor strategy and cultivation cycle, working in partnership with prospect development staff to equip fundraisers with the resources and support required to succeed throughout the donor cultivation cycle. This position requires in-person collaboration with a number of University constituents, supervisors, donors, and friends of the University in order to best fulfill the duties of the job and relies heavily on Raiser’s Edge (Advancement’s fundraising database).

Duties

  • Liaise between Prospect Development leadership and frontline fundraisers to ensure appropriate portfolio forecasting, segmentation, and strategy. Advise fundraisers and Development Coordinators of relevant policies and protocols including but not limited to portfolio maintenance, constituent interaction, and fundraising progress and forecasting.
  • Assist fundraisers with portfolio tracking throughout the donor cycle by monitoring and maintaining data integrity reports and communicating associated data clean-up. 
  • Recommend documentation updates or new policy/protocol to Prospect Development Training and Support to improve business processes. Independently draft proposed documentation and related messaging for review by team and department leadership.
  • Manage and triage a queue of incoming requests for Prospect Development, resolving or escalating requests as appropriate. Recommend efficiencies in addressing common requests and questions. 
  • Review the record of prospect and donor contacts and recommend follow-up strategies. Uphold data consistency through data entry in Raiser's Edge/NXT. 
  • Develop and maintain donor interaction and solicitation queries for fundraiser metric reporting and portfolio strategy development.
  • Assist front-line fundraisers with running appropriate donor queries and reports in Raiser's Edge/NXT.
  • Run a series of regularly cadenced reports of unsolicited gifts and manage correspondence and generate and monitor appropriate activity.
  • Develop and maintain quarterly reports to be shared at regents meetings profiling all commitments of $100,000 or more.
  • Support Parent-related efforts prior to new student registration including but not limited to new prospect identification, capacity rating, research and prioritization. This complex effort is critical for the timely planning of send-off parties, Major Gift assignments and NSO functions.
  • Triage and oversee Prospect Development student projects and tasks. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. High-level proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite with a particular emphasis on Excel; strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to analyze, interpret, synthesize and present complex information effectively; people skills; ability to prioritize work and provide accurate, high-quality information under deadlines; ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; excellent people skills and team-oriented spirit; ability and willingness to articulate the Christian mission and culture of Pepperdine in daily work and interactions with others.

Preferred: Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Social Sciences, or a business-related field. Experience working in Advancement in a higher ed institution; familiarity with Pepperdine University and its Christian mission; direct experience with fundraising CRM.

This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $28.84 - $31.73 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
