The University operates an internal trust company, Wave Services, Inc. (WSI), which administers charitable trusts, both annuity trusts and unitrusts, on behalf of the University. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, analysis, legal, and tax activities of the Trust & Estate department.
Duties
- Uphold University mission through work performed.
- Assist with tax filings including 1099s, K-1s, Form 8282, tax returns, and IRS inquiries.
- Assist with entering brokerage data into the trust accounting system and reconciling on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and ensure accurate actuarial liability calculations for fiscal and calendar year-end.
- Review and ensure accuracy of beneficiary payments including calculating pro-rated distributions for new and maturing gifts, NRA deductions and trust accounting income.
- Assist with the preparation of the California Insurance Report and board-related materials.
- Document desk procedures as appropriate.
- Assist with fair market value assessments for trust owned real estate.
- Prepare materials for year-end audit.
- Update Razor's Edge for donor relation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend training as requested.

Skills and Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting. Strong accounting, financial analysis and computer skills; excellent Excel, Word, and Gmail skills; familiarity with Google Suite applications; good oral and written communication skills; great attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work effectively with different personality types; maturity to handle confidential and sensitive matters; a good team player; able to work effectively with minimal oversight; ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently; ability to demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity and discretion; strong commitment to the mission and goals of Pepperdine University.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $28.99- $32.21 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
