In support of Pepperdine's vision to be a premier, global, Christian university, the Assurance Associate supports the department’s mission to provide independent and objective assurance and advice designed to help improve University Operations. This is achieved by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve checks and balances, regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational processes. The Assurance Associate works collaboratively with the Executive Director to formulate creative solutions to business needs and promote good stewardship of University assets and resources.
Duties
- Gather and organize assurance-related information, collect data, reports, and other relevant materials, maintain project files, assist with data analysis and testing under the guidance of the executive director, prepare draft reports and presentations, follow up on and track progress of agreed upon action plans, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Facilitate communication with other University departments and outside consultants, schedule and coordinate interviews and meetings, attend meetings and prepare summary notes.
- Stay updated on relevant software and tools used by the department, and participate in training and development activities.
- Assist in the preparation of assurance project plans and documentation, research, and gather information related to regulations, policies, procedures, and other information relevant to assurance topics under review.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- One year of work experience.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Must exhibit a strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, business acumen, and sound professional judgment.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Google Workspace (e.g. Docs, Sheets, etc.), Microsoft Applications (e.g. Word, Excel, etc), document storage systems (e.g. iManage).
Preferred:
- Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, etc.
- Prior audit experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of professional auditing standards and a willingness to earn the certified internal auditor designation.
Qualified individuals should be able to show respect for workplace differences, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $26.92 - $31.25 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
