The purpose of the Public Services Assistant position is to staff the circulation desk and be responsible for the general operations of the Law Library during evenings and weekends. The position offers excellent customer service to the Law Library’s patrons and thus embodies the mission of the University. Physical presence at the workplace is a requirement of this position.
Duties
- Staff Public Services desk. Check items in and out. Assist patrons and answer telephone.
- Open and close the Law Library.
- Shelve library materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Two years of college or equivalent of library experience.
- Ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service to all library users.
- High level of dependability.
- Ability to exercise good judgment when interpreting policies and explaining procedures.
- Experienced in the use of PC-based computers, MS Office products, Google applications, printers, and copiers.

Preferred:
- College degree.
- Working knowledge of OCLC's WMS library system.
Qualified individuals should be able to show respect for workplace differences, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 12 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Rate: $20.00 - $21.50 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
