Posting Summary:
The Office of Disbursements at Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a proactive, motivated, and experienced Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Payroll Tax Analyst is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Director of Disbursements.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to)
- Determining tax filing requirements for multi-state and local jurisdictions, NRA taxation
- Tax account registrations, timely tax remittances; monthly tax accounting reconciliations
- Quarterly and annual tax return preparation, and filings including forms 941, 945, 1042, W-2, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1042-S; and all required amendments, for both the Payroll and Accounts Payable Departments
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or credit equivalent in Business or Accounting
- 3 to 5 (recent) years of experience in federal, multi-state, local, and NRA taxation, payments
and reporting
- Proactive with strong work organization and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet rigid deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business/Accounting or Certification in Payroll/Accounts Payable
- 5 or more years of (recent) experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable tax filing requirements
and compliance
- Strong initiative and work ethics
- Knowledge of Banner/Ellucian, TaxNav, or SOVOS/LTtax Filing Software, is highly desirable
Salary Range:
$71,000 - $80,000
