Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Digital Futures Institute (DFI) is seeking to hire an Operations and Event Support Staff, who must be eligible for federal work study funding (approved via the Teachers College Office of Financial Aid). The Operations and Event Support Staff will provide support on general tasks in support of various departmental functions and projects, including the Digital Futures Institute front-desk staffing and the Smith Learning Theater event operations. This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 15-20 hours/week.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
The Operations and Event Support Staff will be primarily responsible for (1) staffing the DFI front desk during regular business hours (M-Th, between 9am-5pm), to provide assistance and answer questions for DFI staff and visitors, and (2) assisting in the Smith Learning Theater, part of DFI, to help on event operations (some evenings and/or weekend hours may be available). This job will include performing academically relevant (when possible) basic level administrative tasks and contributing to special projects under the direction of their supervisor. Other minor and major related responsibilities; including but not limited to
● Support general office functions in the front-desk/reception area of DFI
● Assist with set-up of events at DFI, particularly in the Smith Learning Theater
*Only U.S. Citizens and eligible non-citizens are eligible for this position.
*This position is not eligible for tuition credits.

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based upon the needs of the department and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedule with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year, students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought
- Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 5 credits
- Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
- A minimum commitment of 1 semester
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to be flexible with schedule, as needed (hours to be determined in conjunction with student’s schedule)
Salary Range: $18.00 per hour
