We are looking for a Lead Barista who will be the face of coffee and hot drink preparation, setting the standard for quality, consistency, and exceptional service.

The role goes beyond making great coffee. You will build genuine connections with customers and staff, fostering a sense of community within the café.

You will support and guide casual baristas and front of house staff, helping to create a seamless and efficient workflow.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty drinks
  • Operate and maintain FOH, coffee machines, grinders, and other café equipment as required
  • Train and mentor all baristas and front of house staff in hot drink preparation
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere
  • Handle transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS system
  • Assist in stock management, including restocking supplies and monitoring inventory levels
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations and business expectations on presentation of the Café
  • Educate customers about coffee blends, menu items, and daily specials
  • Assist in Front of House duties when required
  • Assist in opening and closing duties as required
  • Adhere to the uniform policy

 

 

Hours of Work

Our café operates 7 days a week

  • Shifts will be a combination of weekday and weekend rosters.
  • Working hours vary between 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

About you

 

  • Have a deep appreciation for coffee and a commitment to delivery consistently high- quality beverages and TVC standards
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively to handle busy periods, troubleshoot issues and stay calm under pressure
  • Present a positive attitude and an ongoing commitment to position responsibilities and organisational goals
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a culture of excellence and continuous quality improvement
  • Be punctual, responsible and committed to delivering excellence in every shift

  • Previous Barista experience
  •  Strong knowledge of coffee preparation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team player with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • POS system experience desirable
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA)
  • Working with Children Check
  • NDIS check (includes Police Check)
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations (3 doses)
