Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Service and Support Coordinator. The hourly rate of pay for this full-time, 12-month position is $17.87. This position serves the college by responding to requests of students, faculty, alumni as well as colleagues in offices all over campus, making this person a front-line representative. Data entered into systems by the Service and Support Coordinator position cascades throughout the work of the Registrar's Office, student records, academic departments, and beyond making accuracy and efficient completion of work essential to success. This position requires comfort and proficiency with data, systems, and software applications. This position works closely with all members of the Registrar's Office as well as colleagues from other offices including Academic Advising, Student Accessibility and Support Services, and academic departments. Additionally, the position in this role is one of the main points of contact for the office on the phone and in-person at the office, requiring exceptional verbal communication skills.

Successful candidates should have a background in student support, being able to recognize and understand people's needs, particularly in escalating situations. Successfully answering questions requires a holistic understanding of college policies, computer systems, processes and procedures. This role requires the ability to complete varied daily tasks consistently and to shift focus back and forth quickly, to be able to integrate the infrequently performed tasks scheduled throughout the academic year cycle, and requiring effective time and priority management.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate changes to the Registrar's Office web page, working with the full team.
  • Coordinate communication sent from the Registrar's Office to students (via emails, signs, posters, etc..) working with the full team.
  • Coordinate the planning of Sophomore Day and the Orientation Open House working with the Assistant Registrar.
  • Support the work of the Curricular Policy Committee in conjunction with the Registrar.
  • Coordinate requests for annual updates and make changes to the Course Catalog working with the Registrar.
  • Assist the Assistant Registrar with course schedule building each semester as needed.

Other Functions

  • Accurately and consistently prepare letters to students pulling information from multiple sources.
  • Update student records and registration accurately while upholding college policy.
  • Enforce federal, state, and college regulations, policies, and deadlines.
  • Interpret, apply, and communicate academic policies and procedures to students, staff, faculty, and third parties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and exercise judgment.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the student information system (Banner), components of software applications used to support registrarial services (e.g. Etrieve, Google suite, etc...), and the interrelationship between student data and systems.
  • Scan and index documents into the document management system.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and prioritizing tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing resources to address issues and questions.
  • Excellent proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team by communicating effectively to support and forward office goals.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-based environment amidst interruptions and adapting to changing conditions, procedures and practices.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
  • Experience proofreading and editing documents and data.

Working Conditions

Office environment in an open office space.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of professional office experience preferred, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Touch type/keyboarding skills- 55-60 wpm minimum.
  • Experience using a multi-line phone system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Experience using a student information system is highly desirable.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; lift and carry 30 lbs. unassisted.
