Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Kenyon College seeks to fill a two-year visiting position at the assistant professor level in the Interdisciplinary Program in Computing beginning July 2024. A Ph.D. in Computer Science is preferred, but ABD’s will be considered. Prior teaching experience at a U.S. college or university or an equivalent institution is strongly preferred. We are hiring this for this position so that we can expand our computer science offerings as part of our growing interdisciplinary program in computing – a program that embraces computing in many disciplinary areas across the College. The typical teaching load is five courses per year. Kenyon has a strong commitment to student-centered learning; thus, we will be particularly interested in candidates with experience in active learning techniques. All areas of specialty will be considered.

Kenyon College, located on an idyllic campus in rural central Ohio, is ranked in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges, and has a reputation for outstanding teaching and scholarship. We have an increasingly diverse student body of nearly 2000 students. Kenyon offers competitive salaries and a generous benefits package for employees and their family members. All Kenyon faculty have funds available to support travel and faculty development.

Applications should be submitted by Tuesday, April 23, 2024, to ensure full consideration.  We will, however, continue to accept applications until the position is filled.

A complete application will consist of

  1. a cover letter explaining why the Kenyon College Program in Computing is a good fit for the applicant.

  2. a Curriculum Vitae;

  3. a statement reflecting on the applicant’s teaching and learning experiences, including experiences with and plans for teaching a diverse student population with inclusive pedagogy;

  4. a statement describing the applicant’s research accomplishments and future research directions;

  5. an unofficial graduate transcript;

  6. an unofficial undergraduate transcript;

  7. the contact information for three (3) references (at least one of whom will be able to address teaching).

All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon’s employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu.
