Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Accounts Payable Assistant. Reporting directly to the Accounts Payable and Purchasing Card Manager, the Accounts Payable Assistant’s primary responsibility is the prompt, accurate and complete processing of the weekly accounts payable run while ensuring all applicable College requirements related to the documentation of payments are satisfied. The Accounts Payable Assistant also performs other duties as assigned and responds to ad hoc request related to the accounts payable function. This is a full-time position with benefits and the hourly rate of pay is $15.53.

Essential Functions

  • Timely and accurate data entry of invoices into the accounting system.  
  • Ensure all College payment documentation policies and requirements are met.
  • Balance accounts payable reports to weekly accounts payable run.
  • Process weekly accounts payable run.
  • Match invoices to payments ensuring payment to correct vendor and address, payment amount, and payment method.
  • Vendor Maintenance.
  • Verify EFT account information.
  • Maintain IRS Form W-9 records.

Nonessential Functions

  • Assist with year-end close and annual audit as necessary.
  • Annual merge and relocation of files to storage.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent the college in a professional and informed manner.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable policies and procedures, and a basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and 10 key calculators.

Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment as well as the ability to sit for long periods. The ability to lift boxes or items of 30 pounds or less is needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Three to five years of relevant accounts payable experience.       
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication.
