Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor in African History, beginning July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will teach both survey and upper-level seminar courses with an emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa. The visitor will also benefit from Kenyon students’ passionate interest in the humanities and strengthen their credentials with a year of teaching at Kenyon. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching and a Ph.D. in hand or be near completion by the beginning of the appointment.

Candidates advancing to the interview stage will be asked to submit a statement of teaching philosophy that addresses pedagogical inclusion of a diverse student population and an unofficial graduate school transcript. Compensation and Benefits

Salaries at Kenyon are competitive and are commensurate with experience. There are a number of faculty development opportunities (e.g. travel, research funds, etc.) for which appointees are eligible.
