Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Certified Rover. The Certified Rover will perform a wide variety of tasks working independently or as a member of a group, to maintain college buildings and facilities free of hazards and presenting a clean, neat appearance. This position works Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 3:00pm, with a one hour unpaid lunch and the hourly rate of pay is $21.61.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Move and transport materials, equipment, tools, and furniture in a safe and careful manner.
- Operate various hand and/or power tools.
- Assemble new furniture and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Perform all types of custodial work.
- Operate refuse truck, including removing refuse from buildings.
- Operate recycling truck, including collections and processing of recyclable materials.
- Perform tasks generally assigned to “Rovers” as deemed appropriate by the manager.
- Responsible for various types of set-ups for special events.
- Act as a group leader when so designated by manager.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge and ability to operate vehicles and power equipment safely.
- Must be able to work independently and with minimum supervision using good judgment.
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- Must be able to have flexible work schedules when requested by the manager, as the occasion requires.
- Ability to lift, move, and transport materials, supplies, and equipment up to 50lbs
- Must be able to work effectively with persons in various departments and present a professional image at all times.
- Experience with operating a fork lift
- Experience with operating an aerial lift truck.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to operate and work from various types of vehicles.
- Must have a valid CDL, Class B driver’s license required to operate a trash compactor truck.
- Must have two years of operating experience in Class B type vehicles.
