Kenyon College is conducting a search for a full-time custodian to perform a wide variety of tasks. Working independently or as a member of a team to maintain college buildings and facilities free of hazards and presenting a neat, clean appearance. Applicants must be able to work any shift, Monday thru Sunday. Starting wage is $15/hr with an increase to $18.56/hr after successful completion of a 60 work day  probation period.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lift, carry and move materials, supplies, furniture in a safe and careful manner.
• Use various hand and/or power cleaning equipment such as: dust and scrub mops, vacuum cleaners, buffer/floor polishers and carpet shampoo/extractor equipment, use of a step ladder and snow removal equipment.
• Use various chemicals and cleaning products in a safe manner in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and material safety data sheets.
• The ability to clean toilet fixtures and showers.
• Perform various other tasks/duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to use powered cleaning equipment.
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and/or written instructions for work assignments.
• Ability to work independently or in a group with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work at heights on ladders to change bulbs and clean windows.
• Ability to lift, move and transport materials, supplies and equipment up to 50lbs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Previous custodial experience preferred but not required for the right candidate.
