Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History

Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a sabbatical-replacement, at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History, during the academic year 2019-2020. Applicants should have broad training in medieval art and architecture (c.300 - c.1500). A secondary specialization in art and architecture from outside the European tradition would be particularly welcome. The visiting faculty member will teach five courses per year, including the first half of the Western Survey, intermediate courses, and a seminar. Upper level courses to be adjusted according to primary and secondary areas.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of the appointment. Applicants who are advanced ABD candidates with a completion date in the near future will also be considered. Experience as the instructor of record in college-level courses is required. We seek scholars who have demonstrated teaching excellence in an undergraduate setting.

To apply, candidates should visit the online application site found at http://careers.kenyon.edu. Applications must include: 1) a cover letter describing teaching experience, including information regarding experience teaching diverse populations of students, research interests, and teaching philosophy, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) unofficial graduate transcript, 4) a list of courses taught as instructor of record, and 5) three letters of reference (at least one of which must speak to the candidate’s teaching experience). Application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon’s employment website.

Review of applications will begin December 23, and will continue until the position is filled.
