About the role   

The Digital Editor is a lead content role accountable for the editorial success of the Better Homes and Gardens website and the aligned social and EDM assets.

Reporting to the omnichannel Editor, Better Homes and Gardens, a key part of this role is using insights and data to ideate and execute a daily content strategy that drives traffic referrals, engagement and e-commerce. This role is also responsible for creating a range of on-brand original content for Better Homes and Gardens and monitoring performance to ensure audience KPIs, as set out each month by the Head of Digital Strategy and Implementation, are met.

The Digital Editor works collaboratively with the other omnichannel team members to ensure consistency in operations, processes, reporting and knowledge sharing - working towards a cohesive and collaborative team culture.

Duties 

  • Manage daily content plan for site, ensuring quantity output will meet traffic targets.
  • Contribute to the daily content plan by staying on top of current trends and news, as well as ideating original omnichannel content ideas.
  • Monitor sites for tone, style and ensuring content is on brand.
  • Ensure content is highly engaging, regularly updated and adheres to the overarching digital content strategy (best-practice SEO, affiliate inclusions, use of video etc)
  • Coach, lead and motivate the team; mentor members and deliver constructive feedback in order to improve performance in digital contribution and provide a clear path to success
  • Leverage analytics and data to develop new editorial ideas and amplification strategies that will engage core readers, grow audience and achieve targets.

Skills and experience   

  • 4-6 years’ writing experience in digital media 
  • Experience with content management systems, photo editing and analytic tools
  • Strong understanding and experience managing social media platforms and communities
  • Results oriented; achieves targets and goals
  • The ability to manage stakeholder relationships
  • Able to set challenging goals, think and plan ahead as well as juggle competing demands
  • Takes initiative; goes above and beyond to deliver on brand and wider business goals
  • Has strong editorial judgement, making decisions on content that drives results
  • Ability to deal with a fast-paced, changing environment
