About the role

Reporting to the Practice Assurance Business Partner, the role is part of the national Practice & Quality Improvement team, within the Centre for Practice Excellence which is responsible for supporting the Disability and Mental Health teams to deliver great services in our communities.

The Team Leader – Behaviour Support Plan Coordinator leads a team of Behaviour Support Coordinators responsible for supporting the business to meet its obligations for Behaviour Support Plans and Restrictive Practice management. This is a maximum term contract through to 11 May 2025 and can be located from any one of our service foot prints across the country with flexibility to work from home or one of our offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead team to oversee management of Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) and restrictive practice (RP)  authorisation requirements to the NDIS Commission and state-based regulators, including the reporting of restrictive practices when relevant
  • Build a positive team environment by modelling the required work environment, culture, systems and processes necessary to embed standards, behaviours and practices
  • Provide expert advice and support to the team and broader business regarding obligations for the management of BSPs and RPs
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of national and state/territory legislation and practice standards relating to behaviour support and RPs
  • Develop, maintain and provide oversight of reporting information systems, such as restrictive practice trackers and dashboards
  • Compile and analyse routine and ad hoc data reports from internal and external reporting systems
  • Prepare advice and provide direct and indirect support and tools to implement legislation and policy and procedure reporting requirements and safeguarding practices
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Client Services and other key stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Actively identify systemic issues, share best practice and improvements

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Science/s, Community Services or other relevant experience/qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience of leading a team in a human services organisation, specifically within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Demonstrated experience in management and oversight of restrictive practices authorisation and reporting in the Human Services sector
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice and direct or indirect support to operational staff to deliver regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working in a geographically dispersed organisation
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks and standards that are relevant to the Human Services sector, specifically the National Disability Quality and Safeguards Commission

 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.
