About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance you will ensure that the group’s financial control risks are managed effectively by developing, implementing, and enhancing the financial control environment at LWB. You will play a crucial role in fostering a risk-based program of continuous improvement to assess and uplift the policy environment, ensuring that robust and sustainable controls are in place.
This is a permanent full-time role that offers flexibility to work from home, though there will be occasions when office attendance is required. Initial training and induction will take place at the Newcastle office, after which remote work flexibility will continue.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on systems, processes, and tools to ensure an effective financial control environment.
- Lead initiatives to improve compliance and foster a positive control culture.
- Manage the financial controls team, driving outcomes in line with LWB’s values.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.
- Develop and review financial control policies and evaluate the control environment.
- Lead the design and implementation of effective financial controls.
- Ensure adherence to laws and regulations, providing financial analysis and reporting.
- Support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and sustainable financial controls.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or related fields; CA or CPA qualification.
- Extensive experience in internal/external audit or risk roles, with leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk management, and audit standards.
- Proven experience in process improvement, change management, and team leadership.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
