About the role
You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to manage the delivery of risk-based financial and non-financial assurance and continuous improvement in accordance with relevant governance frameworks across four lines of assurance (Operational, Systems, Risk, and Regulatory).
Reporting to the Chief Safeguarding & Quality Governance Officer, you will lead a team of experts and provide organisation-wide guidance on audit, assurance, and accreditation activity required to meet quality service, practice standards, policy, legislative requirements, and contracts.
To succeed in the position, you will be described as a strong leader with dynamic problem-solving capability alongside the proven experience building strategic partnerships, stewardship, assurance, taking an advisory approach. You will be able to influence through contemporary approaches alongside to reach outcomes in a large community sector organisation. You will have a strong understanding of law, governance and legislation while understanding the nuances and complexities of human services.

Key responsibilities
- As part of the goal to deliver great services, you will lead the Assurance and Accreditation strategy, monitoring the implementation of systems improvements.
- Provide sector leadership and advocacy to influence assurance and accreditation approaches in the best interest of those we deliver services to.
- Provide advice and assurance to the Board, Executive and Senior Managers to identify, assess and manage current and future risks.
- Chair and Co-chair Governance Committees, manage internal audit, systemic reviews and strategic planning for improvements in quality of services.
- Engage with Executive and Managers to ensure assurance outcomes are allocated and improvements embedded in practice.
- Lead detailed oversight of regulatory engagement ensuring a balanced approach to regulatory assurance, safeguarding and risk management.
- Manage regulatory breach responses, partnering effectively with businesses units to ensure regulatory risks are mitigated.
- Report on performance for accreditation of quality service standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide independent expert advice on accreditation to key internal stakeholders.
- Direct and lead responses to external audit outcomes including Corrective Action Plans.
- Continually identify key accreditation risks and controls and maintain assurance mapping to confirm organisational readiness for accreditation milestones.
Qualifications & experience required:
- Tertiary level qualifications in law, business, management, finance or relevant field
- Experience in accreditation governance, risk management, assurance and practice in the community services sector.
- Experience leading large-scale implementation of improvement plans and strategies within a large complex organisation or Government agency.
- Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Expert knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environment for areas of business responsibility.
- Expert knowledge of risk and assurance systems, tools and practice in the community services sector.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build a shared understanding of, and commitment to LWB’s Purpose and Values.
