About the role
This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of People with a Disability.
We are seeking skilled and experienced Disability Support Workers to fill multiple casual positions available across our Supported Independent Living homes, Centre Based Support and Community Access in Launceston.
Our clients are active and enjoy football, going to the gym and swimming, and support workers will need to be confident in participating in the water. Client activities will require manual handling, including operating a wheelchair lift and driving client transport. Our clients live with multiple disabilities and mental health challenges, and are best supported by workers with experience in complex behaviour supports and using non verbal communication strategies.
Depending on the program, these roles offer both day work and shift work, including sleep overs, weekends and public holidays. With ongoing commitment, casual roles will develop into permanent part time roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistance with daily living (including personal care)
- Community Access and Transport
- Follow person-centred support plans and behaviour support plans respectfully
- Participate in community activities and encourage clients to perform daily living tasks
- Track and document an individual’s progress through thorough record-keeping
- Build and maintain positive relationships with our clients and their families
- Domestic assistance (support with household chores)
Skills & Experience
- Minimum Certificate III Individual Support or similar
- Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set
- Experience with Positive Behaviour Support Plans and managing challenging behaviours
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Proactive and energetic approach to providing support
- Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate + Current CPR
Successful candidates will be required to undertake probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check, Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People Registration and hold NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
