Through our National Immigration Support Service (NISS), we provide compassionate, culturally safe, and trauma-informed support to people impacted by forced marriage living in the Australian community. About the role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Case Manager to join our Forced Marriages Specialist Support Program (FMSSP). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex, trauma-informed services, particularly in the areas of modern slavery, domestic and family violence and/or Child Protection.
As a Case Manager in the Forced Marriage Specialist Support Program, you will provide intensive case management support, working with clients to empower them on their journey to safety and independence. Your empathetic approach and strong advocacy skills will be essential in navigating complex legal, social and systemic challenges. Engaging with families, communities and services, you will have a key role in raising awareness of the risks associated with Forced Marriage.
This is a permanent full-time position based in Parramatta (NSW) or Springwood (QLD) with hybrid work from home flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive assessments, specifically risk assessments and developing safety plans
- Working with individuals / families who are victims/survivors of Forced Marriage
- Offering emotional & practical assistance
- Facilitating access to essential services
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in community awareness activities to promote understanding and prevention of Forced Marriage
Skills & Experience
- A recognised Degree qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Nursing or Mental Health.
- Experience developing quality case plans or individual plans
- Demonstrated experience working autonomously with multiple clients simultaneously
- Experience working with individuals, families or groups from a culturally appropriate perspective
- High level communication, influencing, liaison, negotiation and mediation skills
- Current unrestricted drivers licence
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
