About the role
The Program Manager – Child, Youth & Family will lead the delivery of high-quality services supporting children and young people in Out of Home Care. You will provide strong leadership, supervision and subject matter expertise to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring services are therapeutic, culturally responsive and aligned with legislative, contractual and organisational requirements.
This role is responsible for overseeing program operations, compliance, reporting and financial performance, while fostering a positive team culture grounded in reflective practice. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure children and young people receive safe, stable and developmentally appropriate care that supports healing, resilience and long-term outcomes.
There is a strong emphasis on embedding therapeutic frameworks including the CARE model and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), promoting child voice and participation, proactively managing risk, and driving continuous improvement across services.
This position is being offered as Full-Time Permanent, located in our Milton office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision and professional development to Team Leaders and frontline staff.
- Ensure program compliance with legislation, funding agreements, accreditation standards and internal policies.
- Oversee program budgets, reporting requirements and operational planning.
- Embed therapeutic, trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice across services.
- Act as an escalation point for complex matters, risks and critical incidents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, community and cultural stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and client outcomes.
- Champion child safety and ensure all services provide safe, respectful and nurturing environments.
Skills & Experience
- A recognised Degree qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or Social Sciences, or related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a human services environment.
- Experience delivering services to children and young people in Out of Home Care.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance and quality standards (or ability to acquire).
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, competing priorities and high-volume environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability.
- Current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
