About the role
Provide personalised coaching and mentoring to a team of Disability Support Workers, focusing on skill development and best practices, while overseeing the operations of Lifestyle and Community within Newcastle region.
Our program groups together a number of different types of activities for those with NDIS Core Support funding. These supports are delivered to individuals to access their local community and build their independence and skills. They can be individualised one to one supports or group supports; community, centre or hub based or delivered in the client’s home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of 35 Disability Support Workers
- Manage a large and complex caseload of around 50 clients, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and effective manner
- Work autonomously to coordinate services, prioritise competing demands, and meet strict deadlines
- Ensure staff are skilled and knowledgeable in the delivery of disability services and ensuring active support of clients
- Monthly on-call component providing leadership support and guidance outside standard operating hours
- Promote a partnership approach with families and shared decision-making
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery
- Manage budgets effectively, ensuring services operate within financial constraints
- Compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and organisational policies
- Maintain clear role boundaries while providing ongoing mentorship
- Advocate for clients’ human rights, with a strong
Skills & Experience
- Previous leadership experience within the delivery of services to people with a disability
- Understanding and application of restrictive practices and relevant frameworks
- Ability to think creatively and use initiative
- Established influencing and negotiation skills
- Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experience
- Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
