About the role

Due to growth in the region, we have an opportunity for a House Manager to join our team in Burnie supporting the Northwest of Tasmania. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of My Launch Pad and ensure that we are creating a safe and culturally appropriate environment for children and young people.

This is a max-term full-time position until January 2027, where you will lead and manage a team of residential support workers to support these young people in emergency placement and short-term accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build professional, trusting relationships with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement.
  • Ensure the home is a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and appropriately engaging and stimulating, to foster growth and resilience.
  • Manage, support and provide reflective supervision and team meetings to a team of residential workers, and lead staff to work as a team in the best interests of children and young people.
  • Support staff to apply the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate and respond to crisis incidents involving children and young people.
  • Undertake rostering of residential workers ensuring that risks are managed and staffing levels reflect the needs of young people
  • Coordinate the intake and transition of new children and young people into the home and the exit of children and young people to permanent homes or step-down services.
  • Ensure the CIRTS database is up to date with all client information.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar
  • Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team
  • Current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.
