We are looking for a proactive, energetic Carer Engagement Officer to help grow our network of foster carers across Victoria. This isn't a desk-bound recruitment role—it's a community-focused position where you'll be out meeting people, creating partnerships, attending events, and inspiring everyday Australians to become foster carers.

About the Role

As a Carer Engagement Officer, you'll be responsible for increasing community awareness of foster care and generating enquiries from prospective foster carers through proactive community engagement and relationship building.

You'll establish meaningful partnerships with local businesses, schools, sporting clubs, councils, health services, faith groups and community organisations, creating opportunities to promote foster care and inspire people to take the first step towards becoming carers.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, thrives on building connections and is motivated by achieving meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and key stakeholders.
  • Develop innovative strategies to attract prospective foster carers.
  • Attend community events, expos, markets and networking opportunities.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and information sessions about foster care.
  • Generate recruitment enquiries through community engagement and partnership development.
  • Manage and nurture enquiries from prospective carers throughout the recruitment journey.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a positive and supportive experience for prospective carers.
  • Monitor recruitment activities and contribute to regional recruitment targets.
  • Identify emerging community engagement opportunities and implement local recruitment initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, sales, recruitment or other relevant field and/or equivalent experience
  • Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated experience in a marketing, sales or recruitment role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and quality standards
  • Demonstrated experience with engaging with people who are caring for children and young people who may be experiencing grief, loss and trauma
  • Experience and skills in undertaking child focused assessments and reviews

 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and any relevant stated based checks.
