About the Role

Based in Gymea you will support people with disabilities to live their best lives. To provide best support, the successful candidate will have experience in active support and behaviour support and be comfortable in managing behaviours of concern when required. You will engage with the people we support to promote choice, encourage participation in the community and activities, and make each day enjoyable and meaningful.

Joining our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team on a permanent part time or casual basis, you will support two men and three women with disability to live their best lives in shared housing, providing various supports including personal care and daily living. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster, including active night shifts.

The successful permanent part time candidates must be able to commit to one of the set roster lines below:

• 26.5 hours per fortnight:
• Week 1: Thurs 2:30 – 8pm, Sat 6:30am – 1pm, Sun 2 – 8pm
• Week 2: Mon 3 – 11:30pm
• 32 hours per fortnight:
• Week 1: Tues 6:30 – 9:30am, Wed 6:30am – 1pm, Sat 3 – 8pm, Sun 11pm – 9am (active night)
• Week 2: Thurs 7am – 2:30pm 

Key Responsibilities

• Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities including meal preparation and domestic tasks
• Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
• Maintain thorough record keeping
• Build positive relationships with clients, families and colleagues
• Advocate for client choice and control

Skills & Experience

• Experience working with people with disabilities, including epilepsy management
• Previous experience working with behaviour support plans
• Experienced in manual handling
• An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
• Comfortable to drive a large van to support community access
• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and obtain an NDIS Clearance.
