Department Summary

The mission of the Office of Human Resources (HR) is to strategically partner with the university community as a comprehensive, innovative, and results-oriented department modeled on the very best human resources practices. HR is a unit in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life.

Working at the University of Oregon (UO) in HR provides a unique opportunity to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workforce. We strive to be champions for building and supporting a community that reflects a rich variety of racial and ethnic, socioeconomic, gender and sexual orientation, disability, cultural, and intersectional identities. We encourage applications from those whose experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion, who have been historically marginalized and currently underrepresented in higher education, who may have taken time off for family reasons, or who have built transferrable skillsets.

The Talent Acquisition (TA) and Classification & Compensation (CC) team within HR supports the UO’s efforts to attract, hire, and retain world-class faculty and staff. We provide guidance, consultative support, and transactional assistance, as well as create tools and resources for all stages of recruitment and hiring. We also provide strategies and solutions so that units may achieve their classification and compensation objectives in an effective, efficient, consistent, and equitable manner. In providing these essential services, we are committed to collaborative relationships with our campus partners, responsiveness to candidate needs and trends, continuous improvement, creative solutions, and compliance. In 2024, our most important strategic objectives are improving our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion and implementing compensation and recruiting strategies to respond to the needs of our workforce. If you want to make a difference during a time of organizational change, this might be the opportunity for you.

Position Summary

As a key member of the Talent Acquisition Team, you will provide customer service and operational support to the team, candidates, and campus partners. You’ll give technical guidance to hiring managers and unit-based HR partners about recruitment processes and systems, answer candidate questions, and complete critical routine transactions. Recruitment specialists keep the day-to-day team operations running and are essential to creating a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for candidates and unit partners alike.

In this position, you will touch nearly all areas of active recruitment processes as they progress through the recruitment life cycle. This includes creating and posting job advertisements from approved position descriptions, monitoring applicant statuses, auditing and validating search records, and reviewing offers. Recruitment Specialists also manage the completion of temporary employee hiring.

In addition to routine work, you will also support project work across the TACC team. Projects will mostly be recruitment-focused, but may also include classification and compensation and diversity, equity and inclusion projects. You'll partner with a project owner to build out project plans, including detailed timelines, and help manage the team to ensure project completion. In addition, you will conduct and compile research, reports, data, and create visual data representations in support of projects as appropriate.

This position is a great opportunity to build your HR knowledge as well as project planning and support experience.
