Department Summary

The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is an ambitious initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and the world. The campus creates the intellectual infrastructure to establish Oregon as a center for both research and development, making Oregon a place where companies can start up and grow. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.

Position Summary

The Knight Campus is seeking qualified applicants for its open ProTem Instructor/Lecturer pool. Knight Campus Instructors/Lecturers develop innovative and multidisciplinary educational materials with the goal of preparing graduate students for entry-level positions in academic, industry, and government labs. If you enjoy teaching students topics that encompass both the life sciences and materials sciences, we encourage you to apply! Successful Instructors/Lecturers will mentor students on research projects that span a breadth of topics and need to stay current on innovative discoveries and methods.

Positions are limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

Minimum Requirements

Instructor:
• Master's degree in a relevant science field.
• Three years of experience in research/innovation capacity.
• Experience teaching and developing curriculum.

Lecturer:
• Terminal degree in a relevant science field.
• Three years of experience in research/innovation capacity.
• Experience teaching and developing curriculum.

Professional Competencies

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in bioengineering, biochemistry, biology, biophysics, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or related disciplines
