Department Summary
The Central Business Service Offices (CBSO), a shared service office, provides specific services in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing, Contracting, Travel, and Accounts Payable for several organizations on campus including:
• The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health
• Clark Honors College
• College of Design
• College of Education
• School of Journalism & Communication
The mission of the shared services group is to provide consistency through centralized services, offering expertise in processing a wide variety of financial and human resources transactions and functions including acting as a liaison to the Business Affairs Office, Purchasing and Contracting Services, University Human Resources, and Payroll Administration. The units supported by the CBSO constitute a large business enterprise consisting of more than 1,000 employees and more than $100 million in budgeted operations as well as other funds types including but not limited to sponsored, gift, foundation, development and outreach, and designated operations funds. The CBSO also works with a breadth of employee category types including at least 3 different unions, student employees, and officers of administration.

Position Summary
The Accounting and Travel Manager, reporting directly to the Senior Director of the CBSO, is a working supervisor in the CBSO business operations team and is responsible for leading the accounting and travel teams in essential fiscal, accounting, and travel functions. This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, various accounting transactions such as journal vouchers and budget changes, foundation, and travel using the Concur management system.
A key component of this position is supporting a diverse and complex portfolio of clients. The incumbent must possess strong customer service skills, and be, knowledgeable, ethical, and able to work with positions throughout the CBSO as well as across campus. Interactions/contacts occur daily with internal CBSO colleagues and supervised employees to assist in general accounting and travel activities, with unit partners to answer advanced process questions, and with centralized departments to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies. The manager must be able to explain and reinforce changes in interdepartmental, UO, state, or federal policies that affect internal processes.
This position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently, including performing transactional duties as necessary. Decisions will be made about the best method and materials necessary to perform a particular task and will include setting priorities, assessing customer needs, and responding to those needs.
Work is reviewed regularly by the direct supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, and safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance evaluation is conducted annually.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree PLUS three years of progressively responsible finance and accounting-related experience; OR
• Five years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience.
• One year of supervisory or lead work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• CPA, CMA, PA, MBA, or equivalent degree or certificate.
• Prior experience as an accounting manager in a large and complex organization.
• Two years of professional experience with fund accounting.
• Familiarity or experience working with unionized personnel.
