Department Summary

The mission of the Office of Development and External Relations in the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business is to support and promote the college through external outreach and to secure funds for the college from private sources. The office provides a range of fundraising and external relations services to the college including:

1. Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospective donors.
2. Organizing alumni, prospect cultivation, and donor relations events.
3. Producing and distributing external communications, such as alumni, donor relations and marketing publications, informational brochures, and other media.
4. Assisting departments in periodic communication with their alumni: newsletters and mailing labels, mail appeals, acknowledgment letters.
5. Serving as liaison between the college and the University of Oregon and University Advancement.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator for the Lundquist College of Business manages projects, research, and administrative needs for the effective and efficient running of the entire fundraising team. This individual will be responsible for projects that support fundraising activity with alumni, friends, corporate entities, and philanthropic foundations. This position will be expected to regularly conduct research projects (utilizing internal and external tools), create high-level donor proposals, edit and advise on stewardship impact reports, and act as an internal liaison with faculty, staff, administrators, and senior leadership. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring these activities meet compliance standards for university policies, UO Foundation confidentiality and data procedures, and budget management. This position also will lead regular efforts for communicating with external stakeholders, collaborating with the Lundquist Communications team on development-related communications projects, drafting correspondence to donors, contacting key stakeholders, and organizing multi-level engagement efforts for donors and prospective donors.

The Development Coordinator initiates tasks and follows through independently on duties and assignments required to support the team's development goals and is expected to represent UO and the Lundquist team to internal and external stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of the program and its operations is essential. This position must function with a high degree of independence and prioritize a multitude of high-level projects while also managing the daily operations of the program. Professionalism with internal and external constituents is a key success factor.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Donor Relations and supports the Lundquist Development team. The Development Coordinator supports development officers in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects with the capacity to make gifts to the college.

This position is based in Eugene with some level of flexibility, including the option to work remotely with frequent commuting to campus. All adjusted work arrangements require supervisor and leadership approval.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of experience in Public Relations or related work. One year of this experience must have included the development and implementation of fund-raising or donor-cultivation events; AND
• A Bachelor's degree or three more years of relevant experience.

• Ability to conduct high-level research and analysis.
• High level of skill using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar software as well as using database applications.
• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to navigate a complex institution and build strong relationships across campus.
• Strong public relations skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM databases.
• Experience working with volunteers and coordinating events.
• Ability to implement and build constituency programs and activities.
• Two years’ experience in a development or donor relations office setting.
• Experience working in a higher education setting.
