Department Summary

The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is an ambitious initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and the world. The campus creates the intellectual infrastructure to establish Oregon as a center for both research and development, making Oregon a place where companies can start up and grow. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. The Knight Campus’ spectacular ~165,000 square foot building opened in the fall of 2020. A second 185,000 square foot building is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.

Position Summary

The Knight Campus custodial team will perform all custodial duties to provide and maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and sanitary environment that helps promote a sense of well-being and caring for the students, faculty, staff, and visitors who use the facility. The custodians maintain the daily cleaning and disinfection of the entire Knight Campus Buildings 1 and 2 facilities including restrooms, kitchens, offices, classrooms, laboratories, and meeting areas on all floors. The custodial team will report directly to the Custodial Services Manager for the Knight Campus.

Physical demands require the ability to walk extensively, stoop, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Requirements

• One year of direct custodial experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of standard building cleaning practices and knowledge of hazards and safety precautions and procedures
• Demonstrated high-level attention to detail and follow-through
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
• Demonstrated time-management skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial cleaning equipment and industrial chemicals
• Experience providing custodial services including maintaining floors in a large facility
