Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 290 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

The Concessions Event Manager oversees and manages the day-to-day food and beverage operations of assigned University of Oregon Athletic Department sporting events, including pre-event set-up, working event, and post-event breakdown. This position will hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate up to 80 temporary part-time and student employees in order to meet customer service demands and ensure successful staffing of events. This position will also train, schedule, and supervise 40 non-profit volunteer groups (up to 50 per group) to staff concession stands during all University of Oregon home contests and outside events.

This work requires the Concessions Event Manager to be available outside of “normal business hours” on nights and weekends to perform responsibilities.

The Concessions Event Manager is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University of Oregon, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of supervision experience in a food service operation.
• Possession of OLCC service permit OR ability to acquire one within 30 days.

Professional Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, customers, vendors, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
• Expertise in inventory count and control.
• Expertise with cash management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three or more years of successful work experience as a collegiate or professional sports concession manager.
