Senior Specialist, Credit Risk Assurance

As part of the Enterprise Risk Assurance team, you will bring the knowledge, skills and experience to enable them to provide assurance to the Risk Director, Chief Finance & Operations Officers, Credit Business CEO and the NewDay CEO, as well other relevant senior stakeholders. You will provide healthy challenge to the credit risk teams in relation to analysis, modelling and strategy plus consideration such as Consumer Duty. In recent years affordability has become as important in decision making as creditworthiness and as such we must ensure our credit risk strategies deliver the right outcomes for customers whilst delivering against commercial and credit appetite.

You’ll deliver you’ll bring

  • Deliver credit risk assurance activity in line with the agreed programme of assurance testing
  • Where appropriate, partner with other enterprise risk assurance teams to deliver effective assurance across risk types at NewDay
  • Provide SME insight and support on Credit risk within the Enterprise Risk Assurance Team
  • Play a lead role in enhancing the tracking of actions raised from enterprise risk assurance testing to ensure findings from previous reviews are addressed within agreed timescales and provide MI to relevant business committees
  • Deputise for the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Manager
  • Support various Assurance related projects and activities to enable the delivery of the wider objectives of the Enterprise Risk Assurance Team
  • Shape, design and deliver assurance activity
  • Acting as a role model, represent the Enterprise Risk Assurance Team externally

We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:  

  • Experience in credit risk or similar analytical role
  • Highly numerate and analytical background
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Attention to detail & high-level accuracy
  • Able to work independently, with self motivation and a passion for data
  • Comfortable managing senior stakeholders
  • Strong planning skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges
  • Experience within a financial services organisation, ideally Consumer Credit
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office products 

And would love you to know or learn: 

  • Credit modelling and forecasting techniques
  • Working understanding of decisions systems e.g. Provenir Experience with Credit Reference Agency (Credit Bureau) data
  • Coding experience (Preferably Python or SQL)
  • Experience in Tableau or Power BI tools
  • Industry knowledge, including open banking
  • Strong understanding of Risk & Control management
