We look beyond the immediate challenge to support people in moments that matter across their lives, and continually push for better solutions for our clients. We invest in and empower our people to stand up for what we believe in and go fearlessly forward together.

We work on real cases, achieving important and positive results in real people’s lives, which is why we are one of Australia’s most respected law firms. Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on.

How will you contribute to ensuring access to justice for all?

We have an exciting transformation journey ahead as we re-imagine the delivery of legal services for our clients. A key project within our program is designing and implementing a new Case Management system. The Platform Lead will play a vital role in an exciting new project: implementing a new Case Management System. This new system will transform how our legal services are delivered, significantly uplifting our client and employee experience. The Platform Lead is a senior to mid-level role where you will become an expert in our new system. You will collaborate with our legal process design and technical and data teams to configure, integrate, test, and deploy legal tech solutions most effectively. You’ll provide training and support to users and work on continuous optimisation.

This is a unique opportunity to join the project team early on, become a subject matter expert on a new modern platform, and help us discover a path to remarkable project success. You’ll be involved in the whole project lifecycle: from requirements to design, build, launch, and run and optimise cycles. Your ambition is to develop a reputation as Maurice Blackburn’s legalops expert quickly.

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in workflow automation in a high-volume claims or case management environment. You should efficiently manage stakeholders with competing priorities to deliver on agreed-upon timelines. You’ll also have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You should also be creative, curious, collaborative and passionate about transforming the legal industry.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Work with business stakeholders to analyse and redesign processes.
  • Creating process maps and user stories and ensure that solutions align with needs and expectations.
  • Think strategically and translate high-level vision into actionable plans and initiatives.
  • Learn our new platform inside out, become a functional subject matter expert on its functionality, and recommend the most efficient, scalable solutions for long-term maintainability.
  • Gain expertise across the application landscape for Legal ops, including the new case management system.
  • Configure (low-code/no-code), test and deploy workflow automation, analytics, portals, and other solutions that automate, streamline, or enhance legal processes.
  • Collaborate with the product manager and cross-functional team members to prioritise the backlog and sprint planning.
  • Participate in global user groups, bringing ideas, best practices and roadmap updates back to our local team.
  • Post-implementation, conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to propose and execute optimisation.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology providers, including software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers
  • Resolve escalated incidents and support the Legal Process team in escalating application issues and new requests.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Have a strong background in workflow automation in a high-volume claims or case management environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret complex data sets.
  • Expertise in industry-leading Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence, including a solid understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience creating detailed design documentation, user stories, acceptance criteria, test cases and associated error handling.
  • Proficiency in process modelling best practices, such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)
  • Ensure the platform's quality, performance, and security through rigorous testing and adherence to best practices
  • Knowledge & experience in Javascript, CSS/HTML / JSON will be preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

Our People Commitment comes with the following benefits:
