About the position:
This is an exciting 4-Year fixed term opportunity as a Postdoctoral Research fellow in our newly funded ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre – Centre for Plant Biosecurity . You will lead an innovative project, “Determining Provenance of Biosecurity Pests Using New Genomic Technologies,” within the EcoDNA research group at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Canberra.
Specifically you will;
Conduct cutting-edge research in population genetics and molecular systematics
Apply genome complexity reduction-based sequencing (e.g., DArTseq )
Collaborate with government agencies , particularly the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry
Mentor PhD students and contribute to national and international research networks
Undertake professional development training as part of the ARC Plant Biosecurity Training Centre activities.
What We're Looking For:
We seek a driven individual with the following;
PhD in a relevant field (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related)
Expertise in DArT sequencing, PCR/qPCR, and bioinformatics tools (e.g., OBITools, Qiime, dartR)
Strong research publication track record
Collaborative mindset and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
Willingness to travel and engage with industry partners
