About the opportunity:
The Faculty of Health is seeking an inspiring and accomplished academic leader to take on the role of Professor, Disability & Community Health and shape new course offerings in disability and community health. Reporting to the Associate Dean (Education & Strategy), the Professor will lead curriculum design, deliver high‑quality teaching, and strengthen partnerships with the disability sector.
This senior leadership role will work with staff across the Faculty and with our partner organisations to design, develop and deliver new course offerings in disability and community health. Reporting to the Associate Dean (Education & Strategy), you will drive curriculum innovation, strengthen industry engagement, and serve as the academic leader and ambassador for these flagship programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead curriculum development for new disability and community health programs
Ensure alignment with NDIS Quality & Safeguarding principles
Teach across new units using inclusive and contemporary pedagogical practices
Collaborate with industry partners, advisory boards and internal stakeholders
Oversee program rollout, quality assurance and continuous improvement
Represent the programs to partners, professional bodies and students
About you:
To be successful in this role you would require:
PhD in disability studies or a related field
AHPRA (preferred, not essential)
Experience in education, industry or government supporting people with disability
Deep understanding of NDIS, disability policy and person‑centred practice
Proven curriculum and teaching leadership
Strong grasp of cultural safety, trauma‑informed practice and ethical leadership
Excellent communication, with strong initiative and collaborative skills
Driving disability inclusion through policy and advocacy
Vision, energy and commitment to shaping the future of disability education
