The Opportunity
We’re looking for a skilled Category Specialist to become a key part of our energetic Category Management team. You’ll play a vital role in delivering expert procurement advice across mining-related categories, while supporting the Senior Category Manager and key stakeholders in designing and executing procurement strategies that align with our organisational vision.

You will be responsible for overseeing aggregate spend and recommending effective cost models to drive value and enhance efficiency across the business. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-value projects within a collaborative and supportive environment.

This role is based in our head office at Osborne park working Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies that align with business goals and market dynamics.
  • Drive commercial negotiations with suppliers to secure optimal terms, pricing, and risk mitigation while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Lead end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, tendering, evaluation, and contract negotiation.
  • Leverage data analytics to assess supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiations and support strategic decision-making. Analyse spends patterns and procurement trends to drive continuous improvement and value creation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement initiatives with operational needs.
  • Monitor market intelligence and risk indicators to inform sourcing strategies and ensure supply chain resilience.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory standards.
  • Support contract lifecycle management, including performance tracking, renewals, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate effectively with a skilled procurement team to drive commercial outcomes.
  • Utilise Coupa and other ERP platforms (adaptability to new systems essential).
  • Apply strong commercial acumen to high-value contracts.

 

What is required?

  • Proven experience as a Category Specialist or Procurement Specialist in the mining construction sector.
  • Proven ability to manage significant category spend in Construction space.
  • Experience with Africa based supplier preferred.
  • Strong experience negotiating and managing complex contracts.
  • Deep understanding of mining-related categories.
  • Relevant Engineering degree Preferred.
  • Strong Analytical skills.
  • Commercially astute with demonstrated experience in high value contracts.
  • Australian working rights.
